家は、暮らしだして“家になる”という。その土地の風土と手づくりの暮らしの美による居住空間が人間形成に深く関与するのだろう。間人スタジオでは、その土地の風土に適したものを、生活の器を作り出す工芸作家たちが全て一から考え、大きなスケール、建材に挑む試みを続けている。
かつて丹後国では、土を扱う職人は器をつくり古墳を手掛けていたといわれ、関わる人が建築と工芸とをつないでいた。現代において日々素材に向き合い、自らの手でものづくりをしている工芸作家たちだからこそ出てくる発想と、次世代の新しい感性が融合することで生まれる、新しい「建築」を目指している。

It is said that a house becomes a home once it is lived in. The beauty and characteristics of living in handmade spaces deeply affects peoples’ growth. At Taiza Studio, craftspeople and artists who create vessels for daily use have been thinking about what is suitable for the local setting and are continuing to challenge the ideas of scale and materials. In Tango Province, craftsmen who worked with clay long ago made a connection between architecture and craft. Our aim is to create a new “architecture” that is born from the fusion of ideas that can emerge only from the craftspeople who work with materials daily and make things with their hands, and the sensibilities of the next generation.
