ECHO TOMORROW FIELD― Food and Art

間人にめぐりあえてから、アートプロジェクト「あしたの畑」を実現していくために、わたしたちはさまざまな経験をしています。ことばにしきれない思いを実現するために、考え、ことばにしてきました。「これからの食とアートはどうなるのか？」「今の食とアートとは何なのか？」何度も思考し、語り合い続けました。

確実に食は、アートは、大人になる前の10数年間に大切な役割を果たします。 それを育むコミュニティーの存在が市町村を形成することを考えると、辺境であれ、都会であれ、日本に居住する上で継続して果たすことの重要性を認識し、2023年（令和5年）は今とこれからを生きる子どもたちを想い、食、アート、建築、工芸を軸に、様々な人が訪れるきっかけとなるプログラムを実現しています。
これらのプログラムは一過性のイベントとは異なり、今後5年、10年と継続し、事業としての自走を目指すことを想定し、地域ひいては世界から必要とされる持続可能なアートプロジェクトとして成長することを目標として計画するものです。 ことばにできない思いを、考え続けると、それはアイデアと具体的な行動となり、それに共感する仲間たちが集まることをプログラムを通して学んでいます。アイデアは、蜃気楼ではなく、言(こと)は事(こと)となる現実のはずです。 創作物が、心に届き、それぞれの国、文化、風習に置き換え、それぞれの言語という記号で伝達される価値を有することを目標に、今を生きる国内外の表現者と次世代の作り手が切磋琢磨する実践の場となることにも挑戦しています。

いちばんの挑戦は、未来に思いを託し、信じて、行動することだと実感しています。考えや行動が、今回のECHOに現れています。大人であり国内外で活躍しているクリエイターは、学生たちと制作過程の思考と行動をともに伴奏することで、これから50年後、300年後の丹後と城崎に思いを馳せます。食とアートをとことん話し合った今の結果が10月から2ヶ月開催する「ECHO あしたの畑—丹後・城崎」です。まだまだ道のりの途中ですが、気候変動や世界情勢への恐怖と向き合いながらも、ある地域の文化を考えた行動の片鱗です。

Since discovering Taiza, we have experienced many things in the process of realizing our project TOMORROW FIELD. We have been thinking and putting our thoughts into words in order to make our unspoken thoughts real. “What will happen to food and art in the future?” “What is the meaning of food and art today?” We have continued to think and discuss these questions over and over again.

Certainly, food and art play an important role in early adulthood. In recognizing that food and art play a role in connecting nature and the history of the land—which is not something that schools alone can do—we will realize a program based on food, art, architecture, and crafts in 2023 that will be an opportunity for people to visit the area and give thought to the young people living today and in the future.
Unlike a single event, the official activities of this program will continue for five years and are intended to grow into a sustainable art project that becomes an integral part of the local community and the world at large.

We want to challenge ourselves to become a place for friendly competition between international artists practicing today and the next generation of creators, with the goal of having their collaborative efforts be moving and generate a value that transcends cultures and customs and that can be transmitted through the symbols of each language.

We realize that the greatest challenge is to commit our efforts to the future, to believe in—and act on—the future. The thoughts and actions are manifested through ECHO. The creators, who are active in Japan and abroad, will share and accompany the students in their thoughts and actions during the creation process, and will think about Tango and Kinosaki fifty or 300 years from now. The current result of our thorough discussions about food and art is ECHO, which will be held for two months starting in October. We are still on our way, but this is a glimpse of our actions considering the culture of our region while facing the fear of climate change and world affairs.
